Traffic calming measures

Dear Residents,

We would like to make you aware of proposed traffic calming measures for Vulcan Street and the surrounding residential area following a joint meeting between Greater Manchester Police, Highways and your local councillor.

As part of ongoing improvements in the area, and to complement measures being considered through nearby residential developments, an outline plan of proposed traffic calming features is currently being developed. This follows the complaints/concerns from yourselves as local residents.

The proposals being considered include:

Traffic calming features such as chicanes, potentially combined with speed tables or speed cushions, where appropriate.

Measures designed to minimise the loss of on-street parking wherever possible.

A reduction of the speed limit throughout the residential area to 20mph.

The introduction of waiting restrictions in locations where parked vehicles are too close to junctions and are affecting visibility and road safety.

These proposals are intended to improve road safety for all road users, reduce vehicle speeds, and create a safer environment for residents.

Further information will be shared once the outline plans have been completed, and residents will have the opportunity to review the proposals and provide feedback before any decisions are made.
